If you received a PPI refund following a successful PPI mis-sale complaint, you may have paid unnecessary tax on that refund.

When lenders issued a refund on a PPI claim, they often deducted the tax at 20% prior to sending the money to the customer. However, they did not consider if the customer was required to pay this tax at the rate in which they deducted.

If you were a non-taxpayer, you would be eligible for a full refund of the tax paid. If you were a taxpayer, you may qualify for a personal savings allowance
